Day 6 of cruise, Skagway, van trip to Yukon

Our last port stop was Skagway. We had our excursion change times so we got extra early off the ship, since this is where we were going to buy the souvenirs for our kiddos. But the town was VERY quiet at 740 am :)

Here was some blue sky!
We got on a little mini van type tour with a guide and she took us ALL over and up into the Yukon. Waterfall and water trench.

These weird things sticking out from the mountain are to help the snowplow drivers in the winter. Look how high up they are because they get a TON of snow.
Waterfall from a glacier. There were tons of other waterfalls that were just around due to snow melt from the tops of the mountains. Our guide Jennie said within the next month most of those waterfalls would be gone. I was glad we went earlier in the season to see so many extra waterfalls and some snow on the tops of the mountains.

Yukon highway. Typical Alaska sky. My pictures don't really do this justice, but this was really pretty.

outhouses on the road.
Pretty lake, mountain, glaciers up higher, and blue sky!

Can't remember what this lake is called now.

This was a second larger lake further up.

pretty mountain in the background.

Here is where people can put in their boat to go out on this lake. It was VERY cold.

Officially into Canada again!

LOVED this green lake with the island in the middle.

This lake is called Emerald Lake. My pictures don't do it justice, but it was EMERALD GREEN from all the glacier melt stuff. SO SO pretty!

Stop at Caribou Crossing for lunch. They had a cool museum of wild life and also about the Canadian Mounties, or the police. I can't believe all they did for the people living out in the wild.

Carcross, another super small town. Ice cream stop! WAHOO!
Here is where the famous White Pass train goes by Carcross.

On the way back down into the United States again. Learned a lot about the Yukon gold rush on the way. History is so fascinating.

More pretty pretty views.

Same spots as some of the drives up, but blue sky made it prettier!
The famous sign! And look, only two layers of shirts for me!

The famous train going through Skagway. I was actually glad we opted not to do the train ride, because we got to get out and do WAY more stops.
Fancy dinner night on the ship.
