Day 5 of cruise, Sitka Alaska

We didn't have any official excursions in Sitka, because I had read so much of it you could walk around on your own. Check out this GORGEOUS bush!
It was fairly rainy most of the day we were there. See the "alaska sky"?
We decided to go to the Alaska Raptor center. This was such a cool place. They rescue different birds of prey and try to rehabilitate them back to the wild. A couple weeks before our visit, they had just released 18 bald eagles into the wild.
Here was a goshawk, Flash, that helps educate.
Bald eagle that has to stay there because his injuries were too bad.
We went on a little hike around the raptor center. How pretty is this?!?!?

Pretty eagles landing area.

Slug
Snowy owl that also couldn't save the tendons in his wing, so he is an educator too. But he was so pretty!

Bald eagle in retirement.
Then we walked around the Sitka National Historical Park. So pretty again.

Totem poles.

The hill on which something important happened now, but can't quite remember. I wish I had read up on my Alaska history before we had gone. So interesting about how Alaska was purchased, etc.

View of part of the ocean.
Super pretty flower.
Shopping for Christmas ornaments. Sitka was great,. It was a fun day!
