Day 3, Natural Bridge Escalante River Trail

I had read about this Escalante River Trail that led to a natural bridge. What was most fun about it was you got to cross the river several times. We did this on our way driving from Bryce to Escalante, or before we went to our airbnb.
We started right around 1230-1 since we had not "rushed" getting out of the yurt (per several people's request) so it was much hotter when we started than I would have liked. But I knew we would be okay for the most part because you crossed the river several times on the way out and on the way back.
The first crossing was the deepest, but it still came below everyone's knees. We wore water shoes and Liam wore his slides. The water felt SO nice.

Everyone minus Liam, because we hardly saw anyone else on the trail the whole time we were there. This was a 4 mile trail RT but total we saw maybe 7 other people the whole time. I was learning that Grand Staircase Monument is much less crowded than other places around it.

Heading down to another river crossing.

Adeline pretending she is Gollum and eating a fish ha ha.
The only tricky part was it didn't have great directions or trail markers so after wandering for a little while I told everyone if we don't see the natural bridge within 15 minutes, we will head back. But then we saw it just around the next bend. Everyone was too tired and hot to go walk up under the bridge, but it was a cool sight.

Heading back along the trail.

I liked this picture of all kids walking together down the river. Everyone was SO excited to head to the airbnb for air conditioning after this :)
