Day 5 Monument Valley

Part of the planning of this trip was to take a detour south into just past Arizona into the Monument Valley area. This was probably the part I was looking most forward to. Here the kiddos are in front of "mexican hat", a rock formation that looks like a big sombrero.
This day was weird in that it was overcast almost the entire time we were down there. It was a nice break from the hot day in Bluff before.
We start to see the rock formations from the van.

Here we are in the visitor center parking lot. Because I am not a skilled photographer, my pictures don't even do these things justice. They were so amazing. This place was so gorgeous. So.

We took the kiddos to the visitor center and gift shop before we went around. Adeline LOVED this rock area. She started picking out all the pink rocks.

Adeline's collection. Then she started looking for green rocks.

I told her there is no way we are buying all those rocks but I will take a picture of you by them ha ha.
Outside the visitor center, they have a lot of photo spots you can get. I knew our kiddos would likely not last the entire drive around all the monuments (takes about 2 hours), so I made them pose here. Lots of times.
A nice man from Germany took our whole family picture.

Obviously, I was super excited about how pretty this area was by the number of pictures I made people take in front of the monuments. They all had the coolest names too.

Here is where we started our drive down into the valley area. They had about 20Ish (can't remember the exact amount now) of monuments you could drive by and get out and take pictures, but we only went to about the first 7.

 The three sisters monument.
The road was a little tricky in our van, but luckily even though it was sprinkling and raining in parts of our drive, we made it through the pot holes and sand. I LOVED this area. There were so many other little mini drives we could have done, but the kiddos were done with the scenery. Again, I realize how much kids like scenery (our kids at least), but they want activities and things to do more, so it's a balancing act. See you another time hopefully Monument Valley!
