Liam turns 13

It was a pretty low key birthday for Liam turning 13. Mostly because some of our family was sick. Thank you Evelyn :) I took Liam to Chipotle for lunch for himself after he got off early on Friday.

Opening his birthday card with money in it and a few treats.
He had picked out a couple of ice cream flavors and we had ice cream as the treat. We sang happy birthday to him in the dark.
Adeline was ecstatic for ice cream.

Happy birthday Liam! We love you!

Ice skating, activity days, more snow, and Evelyn stays home sick

The youth went ice skating at the Acord ice arena. I felt so proud of myself that I was hardly by the wall this time. I think I just had better sized shoes.

Getting normal smiles is nutso.

Liam and his posse.
More snow arrived.
And Evelyn stayed home from school sick one day.
Activity days Evelyn made hearts for a future heart attack. And Ryan and Adeline went to pick her up a few minutes early and Adeline got to make some which she was SO excited about.

Hanging out at home, Collin helps Adeline with a lego set, more gymnastics

Hanging out at home.
The girls set the table super fancy recently. They were so proud.
Playing old school stratego on MLK day.
Adeline got this really cute lego set from her Primary teacher, Sister Fairbourn. Collin helped her put it together.

She loves it! It's a 3-in-1 set, but she doesn't want to take the unicorn apart.
Working on her gymnastics.

Backbend flips are getting better. It's still very tricky for righty side.

Adeline is very strong at backbends. In fact, at home this week she "challenged" me to a gymnastics competition. I failed in every event compared to her :(

Practicing hand stands. Can't wait for warmer weather to practice these outside.

Working on the flips on the beam.

It's been fun to see the progress.

More snow and first Saturday adventure of 2024, The Leonardo Museum

Winter has decided to come on in January apparently. More snow.
We did our first Saturday adventure of 2024 and went to The Leonardo Museum. It was the first thing we have used with our Get Out Pass. Girls had never been and I think the one other time I took the boys they were super little. Here was an echo chamber where you whispered into these little openings and could hear across the room.

Nobody could believe it. The Leonardo is a little eccentric. It's surrounded by thoughts of Leonardo Da Vinci and art and his inventions.
They have the whole first level is all about flight and space.
Watching the first man on the moon broadcast.

This table with these little balls controlled by the ipads were a huge hit with all my kids. They had races and tried to run around with the balls chasing each other.

Some very cool lego displays.

This was a flight simulator that you could fly all over the world. Every kid picked San Francisco (YEAH for family vacations!)

I made Collin do Mount Everest for a minute. It looked cold :)

The second floor had some cool displays as well.
The girls' favorite part by far was this fun art studio. They would have spent all day in there had I let them. They REALLY love art. They had tons of different art projects set up and you could do one of each.
Even the boys were good sports about coloring the dragon to celebrate Chinese New Year.
Doing our bean mosiacs.
Adeline's flower.
My circle pattern.

Evelyn's bean mosiac.
Liam's chinese dragon.
In the art studio, they had some art that was really cool textured that had super bright colors.
Doing a Hindu light thing.

Watercolors.

Collin's dragon and his silly face.
Adeline checking out the full size plane cockpit. There were a LOT of buttons and gears!

They had a display upstairs on mental health. It was really intriguing to me (but it's hard to read all the stuff at museums with little kids) so we just briefly went through things. I really enjoyed this exhibit though.
Trying to figure out emotions on people's faces.
Silly Adeline.
Sliding down the slide from the cockpit of the plane.
Liam being Leonardo! Every kid said they had fun adn enjoyed it, which is a huge thing for the boys and the girls LOVED it and didn't want to leave. Overall it was a great morning adventure and the girls definitely want to go back. There was a hole cardboard winter city we didn't even get to build anything because some members of the family were done and we had other things going on at home that afternoon. But yeah for Saturday adventures!
